{"id":3063,"date":"2016-11-28T10:29:55","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T15:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sarayaku.org\/?p=3063"},"modified":"2026-06-07T01:13:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-07T06:13:58","slug":"boletin-de-prensa-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sarayaku.org\/en\/boletin-de-prensa-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Press release"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PRESS RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Sarayaku, November 28, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Hearing to monitor compliance with the judgment of June 27, 2012, issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in the case of the Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku vs. Ecuador.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On December 2, 2016, starting at 09:00, in San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, the public hearing to monitor compliance with the sentence issued by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights will be held on June 27, 2012. .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More than four years have passed since the ruling on the Sarayaku Case was issued, declaring the Ecuadorian State responsible for the violation of the rights to consultation, indigenous communal property and cultural identity, to the detriment of the Kichwa Indigenous People of Sarayaku.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0Within this sentence, the Court indicated several measures that the State had to comply with. Of these, two measures have been fulfilled, such as economic compensation for material and non-material damage and the act of public apology of international recognition. However, the most relevant measures, such as the removal of the explosives planted by the CGC oil company in Sarayaku territory and the regulation of the exercise of the right to free and informed prior consultation for extractive projects in indigenous territories in accordance with international standards of human rights, have not been fulfilled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0In this sense, this diligence is transcendental because in it the Original Kichwa People of Sarayaku will present to the judges of the Inter-American Court, updated information on the breaches of the sentence by the State of Ecuador.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0From the territory of the Original Kichwa People of Sarayaku, in the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador, a delegation of leaders, traditional wise men and women will travel to Costa Rica, accompanied by their lawyers, Dr. Mario Melo, Dr. Viviana Krsticevic, Director of the international organization CEJIL.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<strong>FOR THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF TAYJASARUTA<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BOLET\u00cdN DE PRENSA \u00a0Sarayaku, 28 de noviembre del 2016 \u00a0Audiencia de supervisi\u00f3n del cumplimiento de la sentencia del 27 de junio del 2012, dictada por Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos en el caso Pueblo Ind\u00edgena Kichwa de Sarayaku vs Ecuador.
