UYANTZA OF THE ORIGINAL KICHWA PEOPLE OF SARAYAKU<\/p>\n

UYANTZA, traditional and cultural festival of the Original Kichwa People of Sarayaku that takes place every two years, is an event where men go into the jungle, deciphering the messages, secrets of nature and of the living beings protectors of the forest - Kawsak Sacha, they get what Mother Earth offers them to be able to carry out their celebration. The women stay in the village; that due to their excellence and skill they make chicha and weave the most beautiful clay pottery (Mukawa, Kalliana and Puru) to offer chicha and food on the days of the festival.

\nThis sacred ritual of the Uyantza symbolizes life and reaffirms the validity and sovereignty of the Original Kichwa People of Sarayaku, being a moment of learning, where young people, boys, girls acquire new knowledge of the Sacha Runa Yachay-Knowledge of the man of the Jungle. It is also an act of unity and solidarity between peoples and a thank you to the Amazanka, nunkuli and Mother Earth, for the kindness and abundance that Mother Nature grants them every day.

\nThe hunting assistants of the party before leaving for the jungle receive an intensive socialization dictated by the KASKIRUNAS technicians - guardians of the living jungle of Sarayaku on the norms of the Plan of management and territorial administration and coexistence for the Sumak Kawsak, with the purpose to carry out a controlled and respectful hunt for Mother Earth and thus guarantee the abundance of the resources of the flora and fauna of the Sarayaku territory.

\nThe departure of the priostes with their hunter assistants to the jungle is on Monday, January 30 and on February 10 is the arrival of the "Chayuk" (priostes), called SHAMUNGUICHU, on the 11th is the minga of the flowers SISA PUNCHA , on the 12th is the great CAMARI banquet and on Monday the 13th is the day of PURU PAKINA, breaking of the clay pots. The festival is completely traditional and is characterized by the typical outfits and traditional paintings of people who dance to the rhythm of drums and pijuano, music, ancestral art of the Kichwa Amazonian People of Sarayaku.
