{"id":82,"date":"2006-10-01T03:38:23","date_gmt":"2006-10-01T03:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sarayaku.org\/?p=82"},"modified":"2022-06-10T12:06:41","modified_gmt":"2022-06-10T17:06:41","slug":"cgc-desinforma-sobre-sarayaku-en-lujosa-revista-1-de-octubre-2006","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sarayaku.org\/en\/cgc-desinforma-sobre-sarayaku-en-lujosa-revista-1-de-octubre-2006\/","title":{"rendered":"CGC misinforms about Sarayaku in luxurious magazine (October 1, 2006)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>In a conference called Oil &amp; Power in the city of Quito the last week of September 2006, the company, Compa\u00f1\u00eda General de Combustible (CGC) of Argentina, presented a magazine called &quot;Natural Resources and Sovereignty: Memory and Future of the Deep Ecuador&quot; .<\/p>\n<p>In the magazine, he describes the Sarayaku people and the Ecuadorian indigenous movement as &quot;the stick in the wheel of Ecuador&#039;s growth.&quot; And it affirms that the &quot;territory occupied by this people can be considered a state within a state&quot; and argues that this people has &quot;its own legal system that is antagonistic to that established by the national constitution.&quot; As his speech to discredit the struggle of the people states that only &quot;three families&quot; are the ones that wield power in Sarayaku. Also, showing his profound ignorance, he mixes the nationalities that inhabit the Ecuadorian Amazon, and invents a nationality that never existed in the region, the &quot;signa&quot;.
