For the first time in the history of the Indigenous Peoples, Sarayaku from the Ecuadorian Amazon have decided to launch their message of life and defense of the Kawsak Sacha - Living Forest through the king of sports, soccer and thus make it reach the conscience of the men, women and children of all societies the importance of the Amazon, its fragile ecosystems for the life of all living beings on this planet.
This experience began in April 2014 in the local professional football tournament for second category promotion, where Deportivo Sarayaku had an outstanding participation, winning the Vice Championship. The encouragement and strength of the fans could be felt, identified with the living jungle, without social or political differences, managing to unite all the Nationalities and Original Peoples, and the mestizo society.
Our intention is to bring our message of life to a mass audience, through a soccer team called "The children of the Jaguar" messengers and human symbols of the defense of the Amazon.
At this moment in the history of Ecuador, a native people is thrown into professional soccer breaking the folkloric concepts, discrimination and the myth of the good savage. Deportivo Sarayaku has taken an important step in his professional career by reaching the second category professional zonal championship, which is the prelude to category B professional football.
