The Kichwa Native People of Sarayaku is part of the invitation to the 163rd thematic hearing on "Extractivism and cultural identity of the Native Peoples of the Amazon countries" organized by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights that will take place in Lima - Peru, on July 7 of 2017. In this important event, Mirian Cisneros Tayak Apu and Dr. Mario Melo, Sarayaku lawyer, will attend and expose the serious impacts and socio-environmental, cultural and spiritual effects caused to the people of Sarayaku and to the Living Forest- Kawsak Sacha during the illegal incursion of the oil company CGC in the Sarayaku territory at the end of 2002 and beginning of 2003, as well as the right to prior, free and informed consultation and consent.
