In the Original Kichwa People of Sarayaku, belonging to the Sarayaku Parish of the Pastaza Canton and Pastaza Province, complying with the statutory regulatory framework and respecting the collective rights recognized in the Ecuadorian constitution and international human rights organizations, we reaffirm the autonomy and free determination as Original People in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
The VIII Sumak Kawsay Congress of Sarayaku was held, after an in-depth debate and analysis of important issues related to strengthening the institutional framework of the Governing Council TAYJASARUTA and with the participation of 300 people including Leaders, Leaders, Kurakas, Yachak Kuna (wise men and women), worthy men and women representing the 7 community centers: Centro Pista, Kushilu Kachi, Chuntayaku, Mawkallakta, Shiwakucha, Kalikali and Sarayakillu; The new dignities have been elected in General Assembly who will be the spokespersons of the People of Sarayaku and will be positioned on May 14 within the framework of the Pachamama Cultural Festival 2017.
