Speech by José Tayak Apu during the celebration of the first Anniversary in Sarayaku.

Today, we are not only remembering the long 10 years of struggle, since the company entered the Sarayaku territory until the sentence of the Sarayaku Case, but also  We remember the 34 years of organizational life of Sarayaku, of resistance struggle, of battle, of combat that we have led as the Sarayaku people to defend the territory, nature and life.

We are a people of machete and ax but we are also a people of knowledge and wisdom that proposes fundamental change to improve the life of the whole world.
