PRESS RELEASE
Date: Sarayaku, 12-17-2011.
The people of Sarayaku to national and international opinion

The real ones attacked and violated are the people of the Kichwa People of Sarayaku.
THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT ATTACKS SARAYAKU TO ALLOW THE ENTRY OF OIL COMPANIES IN ITS TERRITORY.

On December 13, 2011, in a national broadcast ordered by the National Secretary of State Communication, Sarayaku was accused of being a criminal town. This adverse and unfounded information only demonstrates the hatred and racism that the government of Rafael Correa has against the people of Sarayaku, for the fight we are leading in defense of life and Mother Nature.

The National Government intends to criminalize Sarayaku in order to allow transnational oil companies to enter our territory. On his agenda, he already plans to carry out the eleventh round of oil bidding that affects more than 5 million hectares in the territory of peoples and nationalities in the center and south of the Amazon. On the other hand, it tries to minimize Sarayaku by favoring people who tried to dismember our collective territory in the Chuyayaku dairy.

The people of Sarayaku have been victims of human rights violations. The authorities have not paid attention to the legal actions undertaken to apply justice to criminals who attempted against the lives of some members of Sarayaku in the Chuyayaku sector, these acts having gone unpunished.
The people of Sarayaku categorically reject this reckless accusation of bad faith and demand the clarification and total withdrawal of this defamation of the dignity of a people such as Sarayaku.
