The President of the Kichwa People of Sarayaku, José Gualinga, travels to France this Sunday for an important event called the Conference on CLIMATE, where green and left-wing deputies from France will participate. In this conference, Mr. Gualinga presents Kawsak Sacha's proposal `”Living Jungle”.
This proposal is born from the Kichwa People of Sarayaku with the aim of preserving and conserving fragile ecosystems, biodiversity, Natural Resources and the continuity of the cultural life of the Kichwa People of Sarayaku. This is also a proposal with a spiritual dimension that materializes the vision and objectives of Sarayaku to keep out of all contamination, destruction of the ecosystems of the territory and declare Sarayaku an oil-free zone. KAWSAK SACHA WHICH MEANS “SACRED TERRITORY, HERITAGE OF BIODIVERSITY AND KICHWA CULTURE.
Also Mr. Gualinga will hold multiple meetings, conferences and public events in Belgium to strengthen the Sisa Ñambi (Frontier of Life) proposal, a project that he has been running in Sarayaku for 7 years to secure and safeguard the sacred territory of Sarayaku.
Mr. Gualinga's trip will last 15 days where he will also hold an important meeting with the Rhône Alpes region in Lyon to sign a decentralized inter-institutional cooperation agreement.
The fundamental objective of this agreement is to strengthen the institutionality of Tayjasaruta and the construction of the life plan to restore the Sumak Kawsay.
