FIRST MEETING FOR THE UNITY IN DEFENSE OF LIFE AND THE PACHAMAMA OF THE KICHWA PEOPLES OF THE BOBONAZA RIVER BASIN AND THE SAPARA NATION.

 ACT OF AGREEMENTS AND RESOLUTIONS OF THE FIRST MEETING BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL KICHWA PEOPLE OF SARAYAKU, BOVERAS AND THE SAPARA NATION OF ECUADOR.

 The Kichwa Peoples of the Bobanaza basin and the Sapara Nation, located in the South Center of the Amazon region, province of Pastaza, defender of their principles of life in harmony with the protective beings of the Kawsak Sacha and respectful of the Allpa Mama as essence Sumak Kawsay has held, on February 5, 2016, its first meeting for the unity in defense of life and Pachamama.

 The active members of the community centers of Kali Kali, Sarayakillu, Chontayaku, Shiwakucha, Centro pista, Mawkallakta and Kushillu Urku, members of the people of Sarayaku, the communities of the Sapara Nation: Llanchama Kucha, Jandiayaku, Ripano Nakuna Matzakau Naruka and a delegate from the people of Boberas gathered at the Casa del Medio Día, from the people of Sarayaku in their first meeting of Unity in defense of life and the Pachamama, after a day of analysis and in-depth debates on the issues included in the agenda such as:

  • Analysis and debates of the current reality of the territorial limits between the Sapara and Sarayaku nation.
  • Analysis of the oil threats to the Kichwa and Sapara territories.
  • Revision of the limits and writing on the maps.

 RESOLVE:

  • Strengthen the unity between the Kichwa communities and peoples of the Bobonaza basin and the Sapara nation of Ecuador, in defense of life and ancestral territories.
  • Reject the alleged contracts signed by the Ecuadorian government and Andes Petrolum Ecuador LTD for blocks 79 and 83.
  • Maintain its position of resounding rejection of oil, mining, logging or other exploitation in our territories.
  • Hold a meeting with the colleagues from Curaray to find out the status of the signing of the oil exploitation agreement in their territory
  • Establish peace and life camp in all corners of the territory to defend their living space.
  • They will form a field work commission for the exact verification of the points between the traditional limits of Sarayaku and Sapara.
  • Commit to hold a second meeting with the results of the field work and reach a final agreement.
  • The women's organization of the Sapara nation and the people of Sarayaku reject the exploitation of blocks 79 and 83 and ratify their commitment to struggle together with the men to the last consequences.
