Protagonists of the most recent mobilization towards Quito on November 28 in opposition to the eleventh round of oil bidding, men and women of the Original Kichwa People of Sarayaku will meet at the great general assembly that will take place on Saturday 08 and Sunday 09 December 2012 at the Sarayaku half-day house.
The agenda provides for an in-depth analysis of issues related to the follow-up of the Judgment of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, denunciation of violative and imposing actions by the State through illegitimate mechanisms such as the supposed free and informed prior consultation.
During the day, the People of Sarayaku will ratify the agreements and resolutions with a resounding NO against the XI Oil Round signed by leaders of the communities of the Native Peoples of the Bobonaza River Basin Montalvo, Pakayaku, Sarayaku, Boberas, Teresa Mama, Canelos and Ishpingo in the framework of the meeting “KAWSAYMANTA TANTARI” (MEETING FOR LIFE), held at the Playas on October 6, 2012.
As a policy of transparency and firm commitment of the Government Council of Sarayaku (TAYJASARUTA), the central axis of the assembly will revolve around the six-monthly report on political-organizational management during the period of José Gualinga, Tayak Apu of Sarayaku.
Authorities such as Franco Viteri, President of CONFENIAE, Jhonny Dahua, President of the Kichwa Council of the Bobonaza Basin (CITAKIB) and Luzmila Gayas, President of the Sarayaku Parish Board, who lead the organizational strengthening processes from the grassroots, have been invited to the event. , opportune occasion to elevate the solemn declaration of the Kawsak Sacha which inserts its “living jungle” territory into the constitutional framework of the Sarayaku People.
